Re: Practicing tips?

Expanding on what Sam said - beyond just making practicing an every-day habit, schedule your practice times. I treat my guitar practice as an appointment on my calendar that's just as important as a doctor's appointment or a meeting. Non-negotiable. If you use a PDA or Outlook calendar to organize your time, block out that time and don't allow anything else to encroach on it.
It also helps for days when you don't feel like practicing - it's on your calendar and you only have to do it for an hour (or four, if you're a serious banjoer...) and then you can go do something else.

Walter - I don't think they necessarily have the nicest website layout, but a guy I work with also co-owns Prime near the bus/train station in Portland. Ask for Sean.

Hey Josh, Sam, and everyone else. Wednesday was the first PMF session I've attended, and at Pat's encouragement (and as a fan of forums in general), I've been inspired to join up. So..
My name is Kyla, I'm a singer and guitarist within spitting distance of releasing my first EP, which I've been recording with Eric Bettencourt for almost a year. I've been preoccupied with this notion that I shouldn't try to get into the local "scene" until the record is finished, but I'm starting to (trying to) shed that skin and get some dirt under my nails. Aside from playing music I'm also a team leader at 2-1-1 Maine, the state's hotline for social services information.
I joined PMF a couple of months ago but unfortunately I work most Wednesday nights and have missed out on all the ed sessions until this week. Definitely game for forum chat though..
Josh - sorry to hear about getting laid off, but I'll bet you had some fun jockeying for the Freeze. I grew up in Amherst and spent plenty of my youth trolling Manchvegas. ;)
Who's next?
