I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread on getting your new cd reviewed. Everyone sends it to the Phoenix, The Bollard, The Maine Switch and the Press Herald to take care of the local level but what are you doing beyond that? Seems like this would be a good place for everyone to leave their suggestions and web pages for doing this.

There is no reason not to think of your release on an international level with all the online reviews and Mp3 blogs that are happening all around the world. I'm asking because I'm about to venture into this side of the game and would love any leads but as I find some of my own I will be posting them for ya'all.

Here's an obvious one to some people I'm sure, but Noise, out of Boston does a ton of reviews a month. Send it here.

I'd like to hear if anyone's used a service like this as well. I've been approached by hundreds of publicists, but I've never heard of this particular service and I've never seen pricing like this - x amount for x number of "submissions." Seems really shady to me. Which 1000 stations and blogs, etc., do you get? If you're a country artist, do you still get submitted to top-40 stations, etc. Do you have any control over which blogs and reviewers are approached? Seems shady to me.

I agree, shady, i don't think I'd take this route but seems worth looking into even to just get answers to your questions. For that much money its seems that would be the least they could do. e

I came across this cool package on CMJ's site. It's called the Airplay Manager. I'll post the link below but the quick summary is:
"CMJ has teamed up with Mediaguide and RadioWave Airplay Monitor to create the CMJ Airplay Manager information package that provides airplay data from both terrestrial broadcast and internet radio airplay to independent artists. With the same purchase, artists can also have one of their songs distributed to all 3,500 internet stations.

Through the CMJ Airplay Manager, artists can now know exactly when, where and how often their music is getting played across 2,500 college, non-commercial and commercial broadcast radio stations and 3,500 internet radio stations, including the entire Live365.com, Shoutcast and SWCast networks."
It's $89.99. The price is fair, and it's run by a great company so I think Highway Jackson may try it out. If we do I'll certainly post about our experience!
