To start off this here media portion of the PMF forum, I'd just like to give musicians a heads up on how to contact the Phoenix:

IF YOU HAVE A SHOW COMING UP YOU WANT LISTED: Then get in touch with Chris Gray, the listings editor, at submit@phx.com. Chris also writes 8 Days a Week, so if you think you've got a show that might be worthy of a little blurb-love, then write to him. Give him at least 2 weeks notice.

IF YOU HAVE BAND NEWS OR A CD RELEASE SHOW COMING UP: Then get in touch with me, Sam Pfeifle, at sam_pfeifle@yahoo.com. I write the local music column and coordinate the Sibilance column (it's the short band-news items on the local music page). For the news bits, send them along anytime and I'll fit them in when I can. For CD releases, give me as much notice as possible, six weeks even, so that I can schedule the review appropriately. I generally only review one CD a week, so it's hard for me to get full reviews for everyone, but I can at least post some news about the release if I can't do the full review. The more time I have, the more likely it is I'll listen to the record and have something to say about it.

If you are having difficulty contacting the Phoenix for some reason, post here and I'll see what I can do about it.

I'll add to that, just a bit - if you want to mail or drop off a CD (or anything else), the address is 16 York Street, Suite 102, right in downtown Portland. The zip is 04101 if you're mailing. Click here for a Google Map of the location - the door is marked by a red Phoenix newspaper box on the water side of the brick building labeled "The Cannery."
